Daisy: "I got it! Get Ready!"
Irwin: "I dug the hole!
Bring the passport!.
Unison: "They are not going anywhere!"
I know this routine
The gathered clothes
The miniature toiletries
The bag with wheels, handle, and zipper
I know what happens next
The short trip
The long trip
The time away from me
I know there's nothing left but
The farewell licking
The final whining
The last minute burying of all your ID
Like I said, I know this routine
And this time, Delta's leaving without you!
While enjoying a brief vacation in Maine this summer, I visited a wonderful book store in Bridgton, complete with a delightful array of books and a 14 year old black lab, Maddy. Maddy welcomed me and lay down at my feet, while I perused a small book by Francesco Merciuliano, an author who landed on the New York Times Best Seller list in 2013. Many dogs from the PETZRGR8 pack matched one or more of Merciuliano's dogs' poems perfectly. I found his book a delightful read! I'm guessing Maddy liked the book, too.
I Could Chew on This inspired repeated bursts of laughter from me as I glanced through its pages. What fun! I'm sharing one sample poem from a book worth owning (see www.Chroniclebooks.com - click box to reach site). The poem reflects more than one of the PETZRGR8 pack members. My guess is your dog will fit at least one of these poems in the book, too; it was written by dogs!
It makes a paw-fect gift for dog lovers.
