I Could Chew on This, by Francesco Merciulianoere.
How come
With just a few barks
Everyone can understand
That Lassie is saying
"Timmy fell down the well"
But with my endless whining and gnawing
You can't understand
That I am saying
I'd rather the earth swallowed me whole
Than go out in public wearing this raincoat
Lassie
While enjoying a brief vacation in Maine two summers ago, I visited a wonderful book store in Bridgton, complete with a delightful array of books and a 14 year old black lab, Maddy. Maddy welcomed me and lay down at my feet, while I perused a small book by Francesco Merciuliano, an author who landed on the New York Times Best Seller list in 2013. Many dogs
from the PETZRGR8 pack matched one or more of Merciuliano's dogs' poems perfectly. I found his book a delightful read! I'm guessing Maddy liked the book, too.
I Could Chew on This triggered repeated bursts of laughter from me as I glanced through its pages. What fun! I'm sharing one sample poem from a book worth owning (see www.Chroniclebooks.com - click box to reach site). The poem reflects more than one of the PETZRGR8 pack members. My guess is your dog will fit at least one of these poems in the book, too; after all, it was written by dogs!
It makes a paw-fect gift for dog lovers. (They have one for cat-lovers, too.)
